Contagious Generosity

That has been the theme for the latest sermon series at church. A few weeks ago, Pastor Bill called up all the LifeGroup leaders, and gave each group $100. We were supposed to take that money, and pray within our group, to see how we could spread the blessing. Right away, someone within the congregation matched that seed money, so then each group had $200.

Today, we got to hear the stories from each LifeGroup on how they used the money. Wow!! I'm so excited. Everything from random acts of kindness by giving out gas cards at a gas station, helping families in need, sending scarves, mittens etc. to romania, working at a homeless shelter, buying socks for the homeless, and so much more!!

Our LifeGroup had decided to take the money, and prepare and serve a meal to the families at the Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis. Kurt and I have done this before, at our last church, and it was such a blessing! Meeting these families that are struggling with their child being sick, being able to let them relax, even if just for a few moments is so precious!

We are also going to prepare "Parent Baskets". We havn't fully decided what we are going to put in them, but the purpose will be to provide a parent or parents with a few things they might need, but not think of bringing, while they are sitting with their child in a hospital room, sometimes for very long periods of time. So, for example, maybe a puzzle book, tissues, lotion, gum/mints, parking passes...etc. Whatever else we can think of. If you have any ideas, leave me a comment!

So... Happy Birthday Mom, and Happy Valentines Day to each of you!!
